Riders gear up for Legacy Run

Nearly 300 motorcycle riders, passengers and support staff will roar out of Indianapolis on Aug. 18 on the fourth annual American Legion Legacy Run. The event raises scholarship money for children of U.S. servicemembers who have died on active duty since Sept. 11, 2001. The Legacy Run will loop through seven states and end in Louisville, Ky., Aug. 21, at the Legion's 91st National Convention.

Stops along the 1,200-mile route include Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio and the Flight 93 National Memorial in Somerset County, Pa. Riders will post up-to-the-minute reports via Twitter, along with adding entries and photos to blog sites.

It's not too late to join the fun and register for the 2009 Legacy Run. The fee is $35 for registrations postmarked on or before Aug. 1. Late registration fee is $50. Each registrant will receive a patch set and registration materials, even if he or she cannot participate in the ride.

Fight Bad Economy with Multiple Streams of Income

Affiliate marketing is one of the few businesses that is actually thriving in this slow economy. And the numbers will only increase once the economy recovers. Get involved with the right affiliate marketing programs and you’ll begin to see those multiple streams of income coming in.

The internet is becoming inundated by more and more affiliate programs, many of which involve multi-level marketing. Done right, you can make decent money with affiliate marketing. The key is to drive traffic to your website so that people can buy your product.

Veterans may find it discouraging to come home to a Country steeped in an economic recession,but there is plenty of help out there to get them not only working, but working for themselves. Two organizations formed specifically to help Veterans with their dreams of business ownership include, the VeteransCorp and the National Veteran-Owned Business Association.

It’s the job of the NaVOBA to convince corporate America and the government to consider using Veteran-owned businesses as preferred vendors. This organization began the term “Veteranprenuer” and names a Veteranprenuer of the Year. It holds an annual conference called VOBE, Veteran Owned Business Expo. These entrepreneurs are a growing force in the economy.

Veterans are taking advantage of the resources available to them to start their own businesses and find financial independence. For example, the Small Business Administration approved more than $250 million in loans for Veterans in the past 20 months to either start up new businesses or expand upon existing ones.

Through its Patriot Express initiative, loans are available to Veterans for up to $500,000 and the interest rates are generally between 2.25 percent and 4.75 percent over prime. The average loan amount for the 2,800 veterans who took out loans was $88,000.

Patriot Express is available to Veterans, Service-Disabled Veterans, Active-Duty Service Members participating in the Military’s Transition Assistance Program, Reservists and National Guard Members, current spouses of any of the above, and the widowed spouse of a Service Member or Veteran who died during service or of a Service-Connected Disability.

Despite the economy, Veterans are taking advantage of these resources, and are part of a growing number of people who have decided to go into business for themselves.

According to a recent Wall Street Journal poll, 69 percent of people asked said it was a good time to start up a new business. So, what are you waiting for?

My Wife - Can't Believe What She Did! The Miracle Worker!

I just experienced one of the most fascinating moments, an experience I had ever been exposed to, with my wife!


My lovely wife Maddie asked me if I wanted to go grocery shopping with her? Now, we usually go together, however; this shopping trip was not part of our normal, scheduled, weekly shopping venture! She called it "Power Shopping."


Now, as most of you guys may react to this type of remark, especially, when it's coming from your own spouse, I was a bit confused, nervous and very much apprehensive in taking her up on her invitation to "Power Shop!" That sounded to me like spending lots of money in a very short time. My interpretation of "Power Shopping!"


Finally, after weighing in my options, I opted to go on this "Power Shopping" experience! Little did I know, what was in stored for me. The results of this experience should get your attention, especially, in today's economy!


We arrived at our local Super-Market and proceeded down the isles, picking and selecting items, as we usually do. The one thing that was different about this shopping event, was that we were pushing two carts. We were making the usual selections, as we walked down the isles, when suddenly, my dearest turns to me and said: "Now, lets get these other items;" as she pulled a list from inside of her bag. Attached to the list were some coupons she had printed from some websites, she was asked to visit earlier in the week, by one of her co-workers. When we finally finished picking and selecting the items on her list, item by item off the shelves, our second cart was almost over-flowing with items and stuff she picked out (in this case grocery-food items and some paper items).


What caught my attention and impressed me the most, was that Maddie had coupons from such well known manufacturers as "Betty Crocker," "Pillsbury," General Mills Foods and numerous other coupon offers.


Here's what was really amazing about this!


After we had checked out and had the chance to look at the list of items we had selected, I was blowned away by the fact that we only had spent $19.00 and change, for a cart full of groceries and some paper products!


Calculating, based on the price tags of the items, the actual bill for these items totalled to $197.00 plus change! Now, I had never been in a grocery store and done that, even in the days when we had coupon books in the house! Can you believe that? Our grocery bill came to a whooping total of $19.00 and some change!


Now, you need to understand that for a family of six, normally, our grocery bill averages somewhere between $200 - $250 per week, that amount, depending on whether or not we're entertaining guests; if guests are on the itinerary for the week, it may jump up by a couple of hundred dollars more! Why is that? Well, only because my wife is a pretty good Chef, and; I also like to pretend I am a Chef while working in the kitchen. Together, we create some amazing pieces of delectable, masterful, delightful, finger licking, well you get the picture; good food! You be surprise to know that Maddie is also and Ice Skating double gold medalist, United Sates and Canada; but that's content for another article! Let me get back to the experience during this grocery run, our "Power Shopping" experience!


I was blowned away by the smart way Maddie applied herself and the coupons (her friend had suggested for her to get), on this particular day! I know, you're probably wondering what or why is this guy talking about grocery coupons, when he's a successful Netpreneur? Well, let me tell you how this is all connected!


Not long ago, my wife was challenged to do this grocery "Power Shopping." She too, was very skeptical about the final outcome and success of this "Power Shopping" experience. We have used coupons while shopping before, however; never, in such a sequence, that would cause such drastic savings, and; would cause the store to give us money back, at the check-out counter, on our way out, via a store coupon! Blows my mind to see this happen! But, you should know, it is perfectly legal, and something that not many people practice!


So, to make a long story short and not to bore you with our family's shopping dynamics, I'll just cut to the chase and get to the well expected; "Bottom Line," as to why I am sharing this with you!


Maddie was merely proving to her friend (the challenger), that we are just as human, as the next person! We are fully capable of definitely spotting a bargain, a sale, a good pitch, just as much as the next person can! So, she took on the challenge of "Power Shopping" and then comparing the savings with her co-worker to determine who made out with the best deal.


How is this related to "We Know the Net-Works?"
